If potential employers perform a back ground check on you is there anyway to find out if they have? I know that they need a written autorization to before one can be done, but that doesn't always happen.

I do not know a way to detect if a background check has been done. Many different agencies can perform on. Records are keep of anyone at the Bureau of Criminal Identification (BCI) and I do not think they track who makes requests.
