Hope is wishing for something to be true. Faith is believing something to be true without any valid reason to do so.

I have FAITH that God exists. Too many people get wrapped around proof. Can you 'prove' love, hate, caring, etc.? No, you can just witness the actions.
I used to have great doubts and bordered on being an atheist. I have advanced degrees and a scientific mind but when you truly delve into science, there is too much that science cannot explain. And, a lot of science, if extrapolated, ends in theory.
The agnostic has a HOPE that God exists. He/she has great doubts but hangs on to that little nagging voice in the background that says, " I am here for you."
We are doomed as a human race if all we have to depend on are the quirks and foibles of mankind.

Hope generally has at least some planning or an outline for success, as in "I hope this AIDS vaccinne works, as it will help countless millions of people" rather than "I have faith that AIDs will be cured"....faith is kinda blind and ignorant.

faith, is knowing that something is there, even if you have no evidence.
hope, is wanting something to be there,
it is the difference between knowing, and wanting. with one, there is a certainty, the other, leaves a little room to wonder.

faith is believing in something without anything proving that you should. like blind faith. hope is more like wishing. maybe you don't believe in it but you hope it is true.
