It should take about 30-45 minutes for the calf to begin to attempt to stand. It'll take the calf a few hours to learn how to stand up and get it's legs where they should be so it won't fall. After it learns how to stand it'll start taking some steps and after that it'll act like it's always known how to walk. If it takes more than 3 hours to walk or sit up or anything call a vet immediately as there might be something wrong with it.

starting to walk? 1-2 hrs. Trying to stand- about 15-45 minutes depending on how strong the calf is. They have a hard time standing before they can start walking. Usually once they master the standing, they can't really move without falling down for the next half an hour or so. Plus, one of ours was so lazy at birth it just laid there- plenty strong enough, but didn't want to even try. We hauled her up to her feet to nurse- and stood like a pro once we did the hard part (positioning her legs) for her.

Generally speaking, cows give birth from a semi-standing
position, so they're already standing. If the cow has had a
hard delivery (like twins), she could be lying down to give birth
but usually stands up 5 to 10 minutes later. The cow that does
not stand after 30 minutes, should immediately be seen by a
vet--there may be complications.

They should start walking right after being born. well not right away but on the same day.

they should start walking pretty quickly.. if not something is wrong...
