Only with XP without other software
From home computer:
You need to allow remote access- right click on my computer | properties | remote tab | put a check in allow users to connect to this computer remotely
Then start | settings | control panel | windows firewall | either off or allow exceptions.
You also need to configure your router to allow access through port 3389
Before you leave for work go to http://www.myipaddress.com/ and write down the number.

Then from work you would go to start | programs | accessorie | communications | remote desktop connection
type in that number
then you should get to your computers login
good luck

I think that the simplest and most user friendly way is to use a software called "Logmein" I use it and it is secure, works flawlessly and it's free. Go to https://secure.logmein.com/
