Human cloning will contribute next to nothing to overpopulation. Very few people will be cloned due to the expense. No matter how cheap or popular cloning becomes, most humans will still be conceived in the back seat of a car after a round of heavy drinking--same as always since the time alcohol was invented.

I am hugely in favor of cloning. With it we can more effectively determine the role environment plays in genius. Who would object to a few clones of top minds, like John von Neumann and Subramanyan Chandrasekhar?

Of course, my personal favorite would be a few clones of Traci Lords. She is a fine enough actress.

I'd like to see scientists hold off on making human clones until they have the technique perfected on animals first. Once they can clone an animal that has all the characteristics of the parent, including lifespan, then we can think about human cloning. But wait until the problems associated with the process have been resolved.

i feel that cloning can be ok only if the subject is young and has no health problems as being older gives the clone a shorter life. Also clones have the same DNA patterns as the original subjects.

I would be against cloning humans. Regardless of what people believe on a spiritual level I am certain that we will open another Pandora's Box if we go ahead and approve cloning.
Look at what happened to dynamite. Used for mining? Yes but sooner or later everything is tried out as a weapon.
However, I am open to the idea of cloning limbs instead of a prosthetic limb. If it helps cure cancer or HIV/Aids then yes. That is saving lives or improving them too.

For cloning, because we do it on animals and not doing it on humans too, seems to insult their honour. Doing it on humans instead, would lift the arrogance which humans have that they think they are better than every other animal and they can do what they want with them. Well atleast in this occassion.

I think the technology and science behind it is fascinating but the last thing this planet needs is another boost in population. We're HEAVILY overpopulated as it is.
