I need a few things at Walmart, i don't have money in my checking account right at this very moment, but my paycheck gets direct deposited at midnight. Can their little machines tell whether or not the money is in there right now, or am i ok to do this??

Walmart's machines do usually take the funds right out (almost like using a debit card). Try going to a local grocery store because then the check will take a couple days to clear.

It depends on the Walmart, when I write a check at Walmart, it usually comes out of my account the next day that is the electronic one, where you sign the reciept. There is another walmart in my town and I can go there and it doesn't come out of my account for 2-3 days. If your money is going to be there at midnight, you should be fine.

The machines at Walmart will convert your check to an electronic transaction, and it will process tonight. You SHOULD be ok.

The machine at Walmart also looks in a database that Walmart runs, to see if your account number or driver license number appears in that database. If you owe Walmart money because you've tried this before and didn't work the way you planned, you won't be able to write a check.

The machine is similar to processing a check manually but more efficiently. It would probably take a day or two for the check to even be submitted for payment.

Most companies use Telecheck... which lets the company know immediately if there are funds in the bank. So, your check would not be accepted. It would be best to just wait until tomorrow or use a credit card.

In these days of instant electronic funds transfers, checks are often immediately transferred to the account of the place you send or cash them. For your sake, you should really wait till tomorrow.

The answer used to be yes, but now you may not be that lucky. Their registers scan your account # on your check and they may know your account info immediately. Good luck
