Yes. The baby can't help it when it wants to eat.

I think it's so funny that people on here (and in America in general) get so offended when there is even the thought of possibly seeing a breastfeeding mom and here "boob" or even maybe *GASP* a nipple (like it would be the end of the world)... but then will turn around and be fine with some latest celebrity whore being as close to naked (if not fully naked) on TV or in some magazine. It's hyporcitical if you ask me.
Babies have to eat, and it's not right to say that having a mom who's showing just as much tit for a better reason then the next teen age girl or celebrity wanna be on a summer day not to feed their child. It's not "gross" or "indecent" or "disrespectful" because I'm sure any of the women on here would follow the trend and wear low cut shirts and thrive on celebrities and think it "beautiful" when they wear something that exposes a hell of a lot more cleavage then these moms.
I say grow up. It's a natural thing, and no moms arent begging for attention.

I always breastfed when out and baby was hungry, I didn't use a blanket but no one ever knew, one time someone sat down beside me and was talking, she accidental bumped me and the baby fussed, she goes I didn't know he was eating sorry..another time a European woman brought her children over to me, she said look how sweet she's feeding a baby see, I used to feed you that way... Americans have turned everything into sex, breast are made to feed babies it's natural and needed, bathrooms are unsanitary and that's wrong. Women walk around with there boobs hanging out all the time, there shirt or bra is to small or what ever it's tacky, but at least if someone is feeding a baby there is a reason for it. It is better to be discreet but not all women will, so what look away and get over it....There is a lot more to be disgusted about in this world without making breastfeeding one of them...

I think it's absolutley fine. Mothers have euogh to lug around with them without bottles of formula! It's the best thing for the baby and the mother so why the big deal? Mothers should not be made to feel embarresed or ashamed. If you take offence to it, just sit with your back facign! You wouldn;t usually be staring at another person in a cafe anyway! My sister-in-law had to use a breast pump because of irritation, and trust me, it's not ideal! It sounds like a lawn-mower and it takes 40 minutes to pump out enough for one bottle! So the whole day is spent pumping! People should like seeing a mother and baby enjoying this bonding experience together. It's rificulous to expect mothers to cover up, I mean think of the baby. How would you like to eat you lunch with a blanket over your face!!

This all comes down to two questions for every woman; are you comfortable having strangers see your breast, and are you ok with making some people uncomfortable? That's really the crux. As for the morality of it, everyone has seen breasts in their life and honestly should not be so hung up on them as to bring the Lord and the Devil into the equation. Breastfeeding is a wonderful thing, but when I see it, I feel as though I am intruding. That's my only complaint. It's not gross, but it always struck me as a somewhat private thing. However, as I am not a mother I cannot truly come across as though I understand how it makes a woman feel. All I can say is that some battles are worth fighting and others are really just for spite.

It depends how discrete the mother is, if she is doing it discretely, i.e sitting at the back of the cafe, facing the opposite way to the other customers then its fine. What I do object to, is when the mother just flops out a bug veiny boob in front of all and sundry, and starts feeding her child. Once I was in a pub restaurant with my son having lunch, we were sitting in the family area, and there wasn't anyone else in there, this family walked in, and immediately the woman sat down opposite us and started breast feeding, and didn't make any effort to cover herself up, I wouldn't mind, but the place was empty, so there was lots of other tables she could have sat at. My poor little son was mortified. Another time there was this hippy woman breast feeding her child which must have been at least three years old in the middle of the town, right outside an ice cream stand, now that did look so wrong.

I agree. When public breastfeeding comes under the definition of perverted or lewd behavior, that's the day when the misogynists have inherited the earth.
When a baby is hungry it has to be fed. Breast feeding, despite the claims of certain baby food corporations, is, with rare exception, the breakfast, the lunch and the dinner for budding young champions.

Breast feeding is the most natural thing in the world and people should not be embarrased about it - I was breast feeding my daughter more than 40 years ago in the first pizza restaurant in London - I just covered myself with a flimsy scarf to stop other people staring but her obvious enjoyment of her meal gave the game away slightly.

Went away to Goa where I saw an American teenager breast feeding her baby, next to the pool. Can't believe she would be so thoughtless, in a country that is against topless or nude sunbathing. The local women there cover themselves, head to foot, even for swimming.
I don't think breastfeeding should be done in public. It may be a natural part of life but so is defecating. There's a time and a place for it.

Yes I do think its acceptable, unfortunately babies can't wait for food and drink like we can and demand it straight away, until cafes, restaurants and eating areas provide a nice cosy area were mom can feed her baby in peace and away from prying eyes they have no alternative other than to feed their babies in public, its just a natural thing to do as much as some people do find it very offencive.

As long as she's tactful about it I could careless. I breastfed mine and will do the same with the one on the way. Its a natural thing, kids need to eat, people don't have to look. Now I don't think she should stand up and yell "hey everybody look at this", lol but if she's just feeding the baby, thats what they are there for.
