I have a couple of slites in my dryer vent hose (scrunchy metal hose) and the hot air is coming threw it. So I asked about something that I can use until I am able to get it replaced or fixed. I was told to use Duct Tape. Now I went to purchase some and realized that there are so many kinds of duct tape. So I bought one and need to know from YOU, if this was the right kind to get.
Brand:
Scotch Duct home and shop tape. (Nascar offically licensed).
Durable, Multipurpose, easy to tear.
Now when I read the inside cautions, it read: Do not use on flues, chimmeys, mufflers, and tailpipes.
Now can I still use that for the dryer?

The warning is because the duct tape could possibly catch fire so you should be careful. You'd probably be ok as the heat generated from the dryer is not that great but if you're a cautious person then I'd say no.
I think the larger question is why do it at all? The dryer exhaust is merely hot air. That hose just vents it to the outside so that the inside air is not affected. It's very cheap and easy to buy a replacement hose. I'd go to home depot or walmart and just buy a new one and put it on. In the meantime, your cracked hose will not cause any harm.

I think the duct tape will be just fine. Flutes and tail pipes will get much hotter than the dryer duct. Point being so the tape doesn't melt. If it does melt..who cares..your going to replace the flex tube anyways. My question to you is..why did u spen 4-5 dollars on duct tape when you could have bought a new flex hose for about 7-8 dollars from home depot???

Don't lose sight of your primary goal. If you go to the store to buy duct tape as a replacement for a heater hose.... the cost of each are very close I think. Duct tape may work very well but it is a bit more messy than just buying a new heater hose. This time of year if it is cold in your area I would not worry about the heat going in your house.

Unfortunately the time you spent getting the duct tape should be used to get a new dryer vent hose. They are sold at all national chains, and are very easy to install, easier than wrapping duct tape. Good luck.

The duct tape you bought will work fine for years as a repair on a dryer vent hose. It's a miracle product that I use for all kinds of repairs.

You can use duct tape as a temporary fix on dryer vent. They don't recommend for tail pipes & flues because those have toxic gases that can escape and cause sickness. Dryer vents only has hot air.

I wouldnt suggest it. The heat from the dryer will likely make the tape come off. Buy a new dryer hose. They really arent that expensive (under 20 bucks). Good luck!

it should be o.k. for a temp. fix. the tape will probably get gummy from the heat, but it should not get hot enough for ignition. after all, they make some dryer vent hoses out of plastic. that's all that duct tape is, thin film plastic.

Just replace the exhaust line. It costs less than $10, you usually get more than enough and is very easy to replace. Make sure you get hose clamps. Should take you 15-30 minutes at most

I would recommend foil tape, duct tape gets hot and then gets brittle and is not very good for that purpose. Foil tape should be available at your local hardware
