because it easier to pretend you dont want to hear a question, or want to hear a comment than to listen to it and give a reasoned argument to back up your own view. People no longer have views based on logic and reason and so struggle with other ideas.

Some are not serious people. They don't really understand what the day's events are about and the feel left out. Sort of like the kid who no one wanted on their team so he tells himself that he didn't want to play anyway.
I like to be right. If something I believe is proven wrong I will gladly change my position. But I will not be persuaded with a lot of name calling or unsubstantiated accusations or wild conspiracy theories. They can be somewhat amusing, though.
What I do enjoy is debating with people who in opposition. The less direct they are, the more twisting a spinning they need to do to try to hold on to their incorrect position the more I enjoy reading it.

Because people don't want to hear both sides they only want to hear things that will support their personal belief..
Example: Every time a conservative doesn't have an answer, their only response is.. "Typical Liberal" ya think maybe a better response would be to just state your opinion and not just screaming FOUL???

Because so many only want to propagate their hate of an individual or an ideal. They have no real inclination to substantiate anything they say with facts and do not like it when those of us who are open-minded and educated point those facts out to them.

Because we are all to some degree, stubborn. You forget we live in a country where we believe we are always right no matter if we are always wrong.
