It is for a 5 year old girl

The invitation says:
No gifts not made out of natural fabrics and materials
No candy or sweets of any kind
No toys that suggest war or conflict or that will require competition to play

I believe I will skip it, My kids won't know the difference.
Is there a nicer word than anal?

Well, you have every right to say so and not to take you kids to the party, just as much as they have every right to put those conditions.

I would certainly send my kids to such a party and they don't have to learn the difference at THIS party. They see and hear such crap every day outside. Would it not be a good idea to see something different"!!

I really believe you deny your kids to learn something different by not taking them to the party. Because, they might ask why and all you have to do is to tell them the truth and let them then make their own mind. Thats how they would learn.

I know and believe that you want your children to learn all, and that is very good. But they would not learn the other side of the situations if you do not expose them to such opportunities.

Al the best!/

I would take them even though I don't agree with all the rules that they laid out. Mostly because every kid likes to have people at their parties no matter how high on the hippy scale their parents are.

Personally, I see nothing wrong with the first two stipulations as the child that the party is for may be allergic to some fabrics and be diabetic. You wouldn't want to hurt the kid that they are having the party for, you know.

The last one though, I think that is going a little overboard. As a pacifist and conscientious objector I try to teach my children that there are better ways to handle things than to fight or start wars. HOWEVER, the world is competition and depriving your child of that is a mistake.

Work: competition for raises and better offices
Romance: competition for the nicest or prettiest girls
Dinner: competition for the wishbone
School: competition for the best grades

Need I say more?
