Is the Internet a force for good or bad?

with all the accessable porn, dodgy chat rooms & freedom to pass dangerous information i.e scammers, torrorists, suicide tecniques etc,
does this bad side outweigh the good, of free open communication, exposure of the peoples views of society & information etc

It is a force for knowledge, which can be used either way really.
