Whenever I try to use the wireless internet on campus, it takes 10-15 minutes of constantly repairing my connection for it to finally work..and a lot of times I don't have that kind of time to wait because I'm doing something for school! I know when I look at the status of my connection, it's supposed to be receiving more packets than it sends, and it never does...This has to be related to something with my computer and not the wireless connection because I always see people all around me on the internet on their laptops and everything is working fine! Does anyone know of a way I can make my computer connect to the internet faster?

This could be several different problems.

I would start by finding out what the strength of the signal is when you finally get connected. If it's really low even when you are connected you might need a new wireless network card.

However, the first step is to get new drivers for the card just in case it's fine. This will involve finding out what sort of card you have, what drivers you need and downloading it off the internet.

The age of your computer could also be a factor, as well as where exactly you are trying to connect from.

Hope this helps.

Your PC might be running too many things on your startup . . .

Try running . . .

msconfig

select disable all on startup

restart
