You need to realise that it doesn't just keep growing until it's down to your knees. Pubic hair is naturally just a couple of inches long, and there is absolutely no need to remove it. It is a sign that you are an adult man and not a boy anymore, so wear it proudly.
Removing the hair causes zits, bumps, rashes, and general itchiness. It also cuts down on air circulation, so most hairless guys really stink down there within a couple of hours after a shower. Hair is beneficial to the skin in the pubic area in a lot of ways, and it's unhygienic to remove it.

Well i just let my boyfriend use my veet rapid action hair removal lotion. It works in 3 mins. He uses it downstairs (lower area) all the time. He seems to like it better than shaving and waxing. You don't get alot of ingrown hair that u would with waxing and shaving. Plus u can use it everyday if u need to. They do have veet for men but not in the U.S.
Just put it on, don't rub it in. Wait no more than 3-6 mins. Go into the shower, wash it off. Use a wash cloth to help, but try not to rub or press down to hard. (With me personally, after i get the veet off. I usually soap up to make sure i got all of it off) Then, dry off when done. :-)

I don't recommend shaving, because you'll look like you're prepubescent and that's just wierd. But most guys should definetely consider trimming, I'm sure the ladies can back me up on this one, you can just get one of those beard trimmers from the store and go to town, your girlfriend will thank you.

Use an electric shaver. Don't attempt to use a razor. You will itch and burn like crazy if you use a razor. Your skin will still sort of burn if you use an electric shaver, but you will eventually get used to it. Just make sure to use a mild lotion after you shave it.

well us females wax, or shave so i suggest that you try one of theses ways. but because you probably have long hair down there you will probably need to your trimmers then shave with a razor.
hope this helps you.
