This could be some twisted terrorist plot to attack American Music. Or it could just be misguided children with a telephone.

Sanjaya is an enigma, In my opinion should have gone home prior to the final 24.

There are several factors.

1. pre-teen girls - 6-14
2. Hindus
3. votefortheworst crowd.

It is important that as the contest draws to it's conclusion people vote and vote often for all the others this in order to counter the above three.

I voted multiple times for everyone last night.

The point "votefortheworst" is making is the voting does not lockout the phone once the vote has been made. I personally believe Faux and ATT need to fix this problem once a vote has been made for a contestant that number is locked out to that particular number. Also I believe numbers should only be listed numbers, not "unavailable" calling banks.

Also, FWIW I don't believe the phones are available outside the US.

I don't think so. I read elsewhere on Yahoo Answers that Indian-Americans are too cheap to vote for him, they wouldn't waste that kind of money. & most of their parents don't even allow them to watch TV on weekdays. The Indians kids are too busy studying their math and science to get ahead in school while the rest of America wastes their time on AI.

As for those wierd theories about people in India voting for Sanjaya, simple logic will tell you that the whole idea is ridiculous. While he may be Indian, the people in India are neither rich enough nor do they even care about American Idol. There are so many music talent shows based in India (like Indian Idol) for them to pay attention to that American Idol is hardly given any importance in a country like India. Furthermore, the cost of an overseas text message would cost the average person in India their week's salary or even a month's salary for many others. Why would they waste so much money on some unknown American who just so happens to be of Indian origin (well, to be specific, he is only half-Indian, the other half of him is Caucasian)? They have a family to feed and bills to pay. Do remember that India still is a third-world country and the Indian rupee is way way behind the American dollar.

I feel Sanjaya did well with that rock song and really put in his best effort.

I don't watch AI, but aren't the voting lines only open for a short time? When AI comes on in the states, it's 5am or so in India, and that assumes they are getting the show right away, which I doubt. Even if they are watching it then, how would they vote except by the Internet, since the phone numbers would not be available to them, and I doubt the text messaging would work.

I guess a lot of people just like this Sanjaya guy; look how far the Chinese guy who mangled "She Bangs" got.

There are 2 theories at work on this one...

The first--American Idol outsources its votes to be counted in India (fact). Some people seem to think that they are fixing the votes so Sanjaya will stay on.

The second-- Sanjaya is being promoted on votefortheworst.com , a site that tries to keep the worst performer on the show week after week.

I would tend to side with the second theory. Either way, Sanjaya won't be going home anytime soon!

well, of course the indian community all over the world will keep on voting for sanjaya to keep him on and become the first american idol...this is a common practise, if there's someone from another race or culture who join a certain contest for sure...they will support them all the way...so this thing is nothing new ;>

No i think little girls are voting for Sanjaya because she see him as cute...they don't understand it's a singing competition! And since all the little girls have cell phones and can text, ofcourse he will stay in!

I wouldn't use the term supremacists but I do think he is getting the Indian vote and lots of it. Otherwise, there is no way he would have survived so long, he can't sing and it is a singing competition.

You might be on to something. There are what, a billion people in India? If they're all voting for Sanjaya, Malinda, Lakisha, and Blake don't have a chance.

Ever think there are people out there that actually like him and the way he sings?
I personally don't care too much for him but there has to be a reason he's still on the show.
