I didn't, although Ovechkin is a highly skilled player and going to be one of the best, Crosby is by far more talented.

I definitely felt that Ovechkin was better than Crosby last year, because last year he was. This year, Crosby is definitely better. A lot can change in a year.
I don't think there ever was much doubt that they were going to be good in different ways. Ovechkin is more of a goal-scorer. Until he gets a decent center, it is going to be difficult to gauge how could he could be. Crosby simply has a better crowd around him right now, which helps him rake up the assists... that said, he will always be a better passer than Ovechkin. He is also a really great leader.
It is highly likely given his age that Crosby, provided he is healthy, will be a better all-around player than Ovechkin will. If Ovechkin ever gets a decent team around him, though, it will be a much better competition.

Used to think? Ovechkin WAS the better player last year and I still think he IS the better player this year. Stats are only one thing that makes a player standout, but alot of what really makes a player is never recorded on the stat sheet. Crosby is a great player, awesome to say the least. He will break many statistical categories because he's one of those rare players with a great hockey sense. But as far as a more complete and mature player, thats what separates Ovechkin from Crosby. Ovechkin isn't afraid to mix it up. He'll lay the boom and body check on a player. He never whines and doesn't complain. He goes out there and you can see the fire in his eyes when he plays. Ovechkin's ONLY help has been Zubrus last year and Semin this year. Crosby has been surrounded by the likes of Recchi, Malkin, and Gonchar to name a few. And if we do look at stats, have you seen just how even Ovechkin's goals and assists are for both years? An awesome passer and a shooter.

I thought Ovechkin was better and I still do in some ways. Although I am a fan of both I would rather have Ovie on my team. I just have a hard time dealing with Crosby crying about everything. It seems that after every play if there is another player within 2 feet of him he's looking at the ref and talking to him. Granted I don't know what they are saying but I would have to assume it was about the play. I think that will fade in a few years but for now I hope he gets his block knocked off atleast one good time per season.

As far as overall play is concernced, Ovechkin is much better than Crosby this year and last year. This year, as far as points are concernced, Crosby is better because he has more productive teammates (thus all the assists). I still maintain that Ovechkin is the better player, despite Crosby having more points. You can't rate a player based on points. You have to look at their overall performance in both ends of the ice, consistency, maturity, and the ability to perform well even if you are on a team that isn't doing as well as you would hope.

I think Ovechkin is a better player. He is more dynamic, doesn't rely on as many secondary assists to bolster his stats, and doesn't have nearly the talent surrounding him that Crosby does. Only time will tell who is better.
However, I am not saying Crosby is not good. He is one heck of a player and very exciting to watch. Circumstances in this case are not the same. It would have been great if Washington won the lottery and Crosby went to the Caps so these two could play together.

I'm in Denver, so I primarily follow the Western Conference but based on that, we always hear about Crosby's awesome stats (and with good reason, don't get me wrong) but the only times we see Ovechkin are in those silly NHL commercials. I also heard that The Great One has tagged Crosby as being the ONLY person out there who might even touch his records - to me, that says a lot.

properly, a set is a corporation designed to make money by using entertainment. on an analogous time as i think that Ovechkin has extra skills, Crosby is a extra appropriate chief, brings extra famous man or woman ability, and is extra appropriate looking. He brings much extra interest to Pittsburgh in terms of followers/money than Ovechkin, and is not any longer trailing in skills by using lots. i think of the only group in the NHL which could benefit extra from Ovechkin than Crosby would be th Detroit crimson Wings.

I thought Alex could be better but this year has me thinking Crosby (if he stays healthy) could take second place in the record books for alot of stats. As far as passing the great one, they would need to make more rule changes cuz Crosby needs about an extra .4 points a game unless he plays til hes 50. Gretzky was amazing.
