I have always wanted to play the piano, but my parents were not musically inclined and never did encourage me. I'm 35-years-old, so I hope it's not too late to learn. Are there any online programs or software programs I can utilize?

I type 140 words per minute; don't know if this would help matters any or not. I also play "air piano" when songs with a piano theme come on, although I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be hitting the "right notes" if I were really playing on a piano.

It will never be too late, as long as you have your life, your fingers, and your hearing.

It's not too late to learn. Don't learn by ear though, 'cause it won't get you far. Take lessons or pick up a music theory book to understand music and the instrument. Once you get pretty good, then the ear will come to you, and then you won't have to look at notes to play. Also, listen. Listen to others' work from the past.

Typing fast won't help you with piano playing. Typing on the computer keyboard doesn't require strength. Even practicing on an keyboard (instrument) won't give you the strenght you need to play the piano. It's just not the same. Good luck with everything.

It's not too late, but I agree with JC.
Unless you are really musically gifted, trying to learn by ear will just leave you frustrated no matter what age you are.
Get some music books, and learn the notes. As you get better, learn the basic chords.
If you practice a lot, you will be able to match chords with songs and play them by ear very quickly... and they sound really good! But it takes practice.

its never too late to learn anything. im sure if you search in google for ''online piano lesson software'', you will find what you are looking for. if you would rather learn in person, you can ask your local music store or maybe even the chorus or music teacher at a local school. good luck!
