I think if you ask him he will probably oblige, however remember the mail mans work is to deliver the mail and he walks a lot of steps, so if he can save a few, he will.

If you are getting a worn path of dead grass across your yard, yes you have a case and your carrier should oblige if you ask nicely.

If your yard is fine with no visible affects from the walking, no you are just being nitt-picky. Like others said mail carriers walk many miles a day and will try to shorten it where acceptable.

My mail carrier crosses my yard everyday and I have yet to notice any undue wear.

They are not suppose to walk on the yard if there is a sidewalk or path that is normally used, but they do this for shortcut purposes. You can ask, but remember, depending on how they take it, will depend on what mail you do and don't get. They might go "postal".??????

Are they walking in the yard to deliver the mail or just to get a shortcut? If it's just a shortcut, how about asking nicely? If it is the only way they can get to and from the mailbox, you probably need to move the mailbox.

My letter carrier can walk on my grass any time she wants and it is ok with me. You can ask your carrier not to walk on the grass but it's iffy that they will comply -- letter carriers, meter readers, servicemen have some sort of exemption since they are not trespassing and are taking the most direct route to perform their duties.

It depends where your mailbox is. If it is in your yard or on your your house, they are required to walk in your yard to make the delivery. If you request that they don't walk in your your yard and they cannot access your mailbox or receptacle, then you will not get your mail delivered.

Sure you can ask him/her not to walk thru your yard. They will respond in a positive way. They are people, just like us with a job to do. But before you do that , ask yourself if any real harm is being done to your lawn. Remember, walking postal carrriers put in a lot of miles everyday. Any short cut is sure to be appreciated. I wouldn't want that job.
