Grimace was used to advertise shakes at McDonalds's. I don't know which person invented him - someone in McDonald's marketing. I do know that originally he was a bad guy who stole shakes, and had 4 arms.

Whatever advertising agency McDonald's was using at the time. Its just another way of appealing to small children; to get them to want to go to McDonald's.

because somehow mcdonalds felt that there were more people in the world to corrupt into liking mcdonallds!
