Would you have any complaints?

(Note: 'Loud' as in 'loud in volume; Y2K-loud'; compared to older, 'soft'-sounding albums.

This question may sound daft and simple - but if you know what I'm talking about, kindly write on...)

It's almost as annoying as when it is mastered TOO loud. In these days of ipods it's amazing to hear the contrast between the master volume level of a modern recording of pop music vs. a 40 year old one.

An album should be mastered at about -6 decibels I believe.

recently alot of artist request it to be too loud.. mainly hiphop artists attempting to drive the bass as high as it will go...
Mastered is mastered... either way...
They tweak it to what the artists prefer, and then to what their audience is looking for.
I personally wish some albums that are awesome, were remastered for a more raw power.. but most are mastered the way they are for a reason, most simply being it probably sounds best at those tweaks.

probably better if it's not loud as that means it's been compressed all to h*ll which denigrates the sound quality.... there's so much of this done today, that it has become standard to cut through average loudness on rotations..... which gets louder and louder.... yeah, that's my complaint, that it's too loud.....or too compressed.....
