Might anyone know- Is there anyway to view what Hubble is viewing in live time on the web? Would enjoy doing it once just to do it, so not looking for something too expensive

not really, because hubble takes pics. it don't show live streaming of what it sees. you can go to hubbles main nasa page to look up the most recent pics.

When you look op at the sky that's what the Space telescope is looking at. The difference is that the Hubble is taking photographs with long exposures and wavelengths the eye cannot see. These photographs are not transmitted "Live" as a web cam does, but rather in packages of coded data. The coded data is then transferred to computer where is re-precessed. For a color image, for instance, the Hubble takes a picture in at least three wavelengths (not necessarily visible light) and a technician has to process the data, turn the data into pixels and combine the 3 different frames into one single picture adjusting color balance, etc, etc.

As you can see, Not even the guys that manage Hubble (or any spacecraft for what matters) get a nice stream of pictures like you would get in a web cam.

If you want o use the Hubble for something yourself, you will have to apply for a scientific research and wait in a long , long line.
You can, however download the raw data and try to assemble the picture yourself

The Hubble doesn't beam any pictures down in real time. It's not like a telescope you can walk up to and look into. It transfers compressed data upon ground command.

No...you have to wait for the guys at JPL to post the pictures on a website.
