I say look for cleaners made by the Method company. I've had nothing but good luck with these products.
They're not as nasty and strong as some of the other products out there, and they're non-toxic. They also have some handy bathroom wipes which are good.
As for fresh smelling, I would actually say to try flowers in the spring/summer. You can get some nice smelling flowers in pots that won't wither as quickly as cut flowers, and you can just get a couple and swap them into the windowsill now and again so they stay alive and healthy.
Another thing is to try Glade ultra spray, it's in a tiny spraycan so you can easily conceal it and it's great to hide smells from going to the bathroom. All it takes is one small spray.
However I would advise you to stay away from anything that smells too much of harsh chemicals or of anything that releases scents for long periods. It may look glamorous on commercials but most people don't like to have their bathroom constantly smell like a field of flowers concentrated in there. Bathrooms tend not to have too much ventilation so the smells can linger and it's also bad for anyone with a sensitive nose.
Hope this helps.

I extremely have a house daycare pus 5 little ones of my very own. 2 of that are pungent teenage boys! besides, people consistently tell me my domicile smells sturdy and that i think of that's because of the fact of quite a few motives. I do burn candles in the evening circumstances (whilst there are no longer any daycare little ones) and that i mop my flooring three times a week or extra with the optimal smelling Mr. sparkling or Lysol i will locate. I additionally use spray air freshener each and every time i alter a diapers (all day long!) and that i sparkling with bleach which kills each and every scent possible. the main important reason I skinny my domicile smells sturdy is because of the fact i take advantage of those Plug-In's. i will leave them plugged in at the back of the entertainment stand and at the back of the settee and the toddlers won't be able to get to them. I extremely have one plugged into an outlet that's above my kitchen counters and the toddlers won't be able to attain that the two. Having pronounced all that, perhaps the 'funk' scent is coming from someplace particular. One time i got here across rotten potatoes in the backside of my pantry after thinking why my domicile had a 'funk' scent. attempt the garbage disposable. in specific circumstances rotten food gets caught in there. desire I helped!

I use chlorox wipes daily on the toilet and counter/sink. Weekly cleaning I use scrubbing bubbles (I keep all under the sink for easy use) and my bathroom always smells clean. :)
Hope this helps. Good luck.

I recommend for cleaning PURPLR POWER from WAL*MART (found in automotive section). Has a decent scent similar to anise.Great for a multitude of cleaning jobs.
For a scent maybe try using a plug-in or similar product they can also be found at your local WAL*MART.
One other tip I enjoy is in their crafts department fragrant EUCALYPTUS twigs. I place them in a hanging basket on the wall this also is a good decorating tip.
