I usually feel my baby kicking after I eat breakfast or sometime in the morning. But, this morning I haven't felt anything. I was laying in bed when I first woke up and felt 2 little prods, but since then, nothing and that was 2 hours ago. How much longer should I wait to feel something before I call my doctor? It's not really like him to not kick after breakfast? And feeling him kick has become something regular for me.

You know your body and your baby better than anyone. More than likely it's nothing, but if you are concerned I would talk to your doctor.

The doctor won't usually start having you do kick counts until 28 weeks, because until then the baby's movements can be erratic and unpredictable.

My little one keeps a pretty good schedule too, but she does change sometimes. She usually kicks in the morning, like yours, but if there is something different, she may not. For example, when my husband is out of town, she is less likely to kick first thing in the morning because his voice doesn't wake her up when he gets up for work. Or if I go to bed later, get up earlier, eat something weird, etc, she may be a little different. It may be that something like that is going on with your baby.

If you're really worried, drink something cold and/or sugary and lay down on your left side for a while to try and feel the baby kick. (I usually have to turn the TV off or I get distracted and forget why I laid down!) That will often wake them up and get going. If you're still worried, or you're past 28 weeks and don't get at least 10 movements in 2 hours, call your doctor!

Good luck with your little one!

Hello! I am now coming into the 6 month frame myself. I have talked to my doctor several times about the whole kicking issue. I am considered high risk and was real nervous that I hadn't felt movement yet ( I was abouy 2 weeks behind the norm), he said each baby is different and develops differently. Some dont move until later and some do take "breaks". His advice to me was that if I went more than 24hrs without movement to call him and they would bring me in for a heart check and ultrasound to be safe. I hope this puts you at ease!

If you don't get 10 kicks in 2 hours PLEASE call the Dr and let them know what is going on. A baby's kicks and movements are a way of letting us know they are OK.

They are just like us already and sometimes require more sleep or maybe your activities were different yesterday and made the baby more sleepy or comfortable. Try drinking somereally cold water. It was so easy to scare myself when I was pregannt like did he move, how long has it been? Is he okay ect... Im sure your fine and yes all 3 of my babies took breaks from their routine like ways

As the baby grows inside of you he has less room to move and moves less, or he just may be changing his sleep habits just as they do after they are born. Try to stimulate him by putting a set of headphones on your stomach and playing some music, change the music to see wich one stimulate him best.
