My brother said he smoked one time and I want to test him but want to make sure I've given enough time for it to leave the system.

From previously working in Human Resources and having to research all that information.

It depends on many factors, height, weight, metabolism, etc.

As a general rule, for one time users it stays in the system for approximately 5-10days. Depending on how much was smoked and the potency of the THC's marijuana. Regular users it takes anywhere from 30-45 days to get out of the blood stream.

Please note, that depending on the hair length, a hair drug test can detect drug usage from 30 days up to years prior to the test.

If you are going to do a home drug test kit, I would wait approximately two weeks after the date that was told to you by your brother, if you are going to have him tested at a facility I would wait a minimum of 30 days. Their tests are much more sensitive and thorough.

14 days with a cheap test-up to 30 days with the kind the gov't uses. It checks for metabolites not the THC itself. THC is fat soluble not water soluble-so heavy water intake is of no use to try and dilute the stream. Just don't do any dieting before the testing.

Only 1 time? Maybe a week or two. For regular users, it's around 3-4 weeks.

If he has only smoked one time all traces of it would most likely be out of his system within a week.
