I have an annoying and loud female coworker. I work in an open space and I can't concentrate because of her loud voice. And she is manager and I am not. What should I do?

I would ask around and see if anyone else is annoyed. Maybe talk to another manager and say you don't want to start problems but you cant concentrate. If your coworkers aren't bothered by it, you might be on your own there, but if they find it annoying too, when you go to your other manager, you can claim that you and some other coworkers find it annoying. Strength in numbers.

(you could also leave an anonymous note lol)

She's your manager? Tricky. If your job doesn't involve a lot of phone usage, I would go to her and ask her if she minds you wearing noise-reduction headphones at work, because the level of nearby noise in the office distracts you and affects the quantity and quality of your work. I'd be very surprised if she didn't get the message from that. As she's your boss (or even if she wasn't), it's difficult to politely tell her to shut the hell up, so I think the more subtle approach would be beneficial.

As a manager, if I was affecting productivity like this, I would definitely want to know, and would understand what was going on if someone said the above to me.

I hope this helps!

If your job does not entail you to talk on the phone alot I advise the noise cancelling headphones. I have had coworkers use them and LOVE them! They have less disruptions and distractions and improved work efficiency.

In this day and age of working in cubicles and open office seating, you are thrust into many situations you have to deal with in the workplace. I hope this helps short of talking to the manager.

Every time she starts to get loud, stand up and face her. Then start singing your favorite song as loud as you can. When she looks at you like you are crazy, sit down and proceed back to work. Repeat and continue. She will get the point.

Otherwise, you should sit down and talk to her since she is your manager and let her know that she is affecting your productivity.

LOL @ ghanouja & Pinko

I have a designer here which talks too much. As a matter of fact she doesn't know how to shut up. She doesn't know how to think silently. Whatever she's thinking, she has to speak out.

Sometimes I feel that she is wearing my nerves off and that I'm at the verge of a nervous breakdown.

Usually I keep telling her to shut up but she doesn't. I can afford to tell her to shut her up since she's not my manager.

Anyways, if you find a nice way to shut yours up, keep me in mind ok? I'm curious too.

In case you're ready to be adventurous, you can always slip her a sleeping pill in her drink, or even better yet, laxative. Although it is not guaranteed to shut her up, it will keep her away (in the toilet).

Hope this helps

hey beautiful,
all the above answers are great but alsoyou could try to.......do the same back to her act all loud and stuff and talk till you feel that your mouth is gana fall apart and see how she likes it...and then when she tells you somthing about it tell her that is the same way that you feel.......... and if you are the type of person that cant talk alot then you could just tell me where your workplace is and i can be your mega mouth (trust m,e im good at it) and i would stop her from talking her whole life !!!!!!!!!!!! hahahahahaha

Are you using a telephone when you work, I mean if you don't expect any phone calls on stationary telephone, you could put your cell phone on vibration regime and listen to some music via USB key or something ...Silent music can be very stimulating to your brain processes !

Get ear plugs or start talking about how you've noticed that loud women tend to be fat.

I think calmly you should go talk to her and try to tell her in order for you to have a better outcome in this organization you should understand others, and I am sure she will understand.

Good Luck!

Most people aren't aware that they are loud.
Leave an anonymous letter on her desk. we once did this to someone with bad BO and it actually worked.
