Mine is the same. I hold the door closed, then grab the latch that sits behind the front handle and push it back until the "door locked" light luminates. Hard to explain in writing, but brute force does not work.

It all depends. What brand is it? Is the latch stuck open. Here is what you can do. If it is a front loader, open up the door and look on the inside of the door or the cabinet frame, and find the model and serial #. If it is a top loader it will be on top of the control panel above the cycle selector. After finding this go to the manufacturer's website and find the info. There should also be a tag on the unit that gives you a # to call the companies call center.

It can only be the catch that isn't working. The catch has to lock properly for the machine to work. Anybody reasonably handy and with a screwdriver should be able to undo the panel round the catch and check it out. Mind you it could be the catch on the door or the socket on the frame of the machine that the door catch fits into.

OK..open the dryer door...locate the hinge. Surely this is where the problem evolved.
Are the screws coming lose? Can they be tightened? If it feels stripped out...just simply take one of the screws to the hardware store and buy a screw one size larger in diameter. make Sure the length is the same. This should be able to suck that door back in place.
You could always use a little sheet metal if the door has a weak spot where the screw needs to go. Sheet metal can be screwed to metal using self-tap sheet metal screws. Goo luck..hope this works!

Look in your local paper, loads of folk fix w/m doors. Mine burst 3 years ago and I got it fixed, think it cost about £30-£40 to get fixed.
If its a hoover it will be really easy to fix as their spare parts are really cheap and everyone stocks them

Put a little bit of lube (can be vaseline) on the pin on the door. It will shut much better

this form of washer calls for you to push the beginning up/pause button. as quickly as you do this, the lock might desire to disengage in in basic terms some seconds. If it does not, there could be something incorrect with the administration board.
