Buy her a little toy maybe something from a carton or film she likes, maybe a few puzzles floor ones that are easy. Or even a little bike you can get them for small children now from mothercare etc. Don't go mad though as she won't know. Put some money in a savings account she will appreciate that more when she is older, that's what we do every year.

Sounds like she already has it all, and if you are worried about what to get her at 1, you are probably on the way to having an extremely spoiled child. She doesn't care and doesn't realize that she is even having a birhtday yet. Save the presents for the 2nd b-day. Give her a cake and sing happy birthday. She will be more interested in the boxes that her presents came in than the actual gift. You could wrap up toys she already has and hasn't played with for a while. She won't care.
Spoiled children are not fun adults to be around. Yes she is a baby and you love her, but she will eventually will grow up and cause you and others problems if she is spoiled. Enjoy your child not the things you give her.

Just ger her something small, bright & Fun, but most of all cheap - she'll forget all about it as soon as the next gift is offered to her.
Use the money you have saved from buying a gift to open (or top up) a savings account for her.
Money when she's older will be a much better gift than a toy now.
(From a father of 2, who both have so many toys they don't even remember they have most of the time)

Hi as a mother of a little girl myself i can understand you want to get her a nice gift, but as you've already said she has so much already and she is only going to be one;so why not take advantage of the great sales at the moment there are loads around offering great discounts on garden toys like slides and sandpits. My daughter had a sandpit from that age and she still loves it now she is 6. hope this helps.

I vote for a family picture too. I get my kids' pictures taken every year at their birthday. I also get a family picture done. I put my daughter's picture in a really nice frame and stick it up in her room, it has her birthday engraved on it, each year I put in her new picture.
I know what its like to have lots of toys. I have a 3 year old and a almost 1 year old. All of my daughters toys are now passed down to my son, and between the gifts that they get from grandma and grandpa, and the rest of the aunts and uncles, and friends its really hard. I think my children are fortunate, but not spoiled. I dont ask people to bring over gifts and things, they just do, and in my personal opion its kind of rude to ask people who are giving you gifts, to give you money instead.
I do know the want to make her first birthday special. Try the picture idea. I go to JC Penney to get my kids' pictures done. If you go to the JC Penney Portraits website there are coupons that you can print out for free pictures, and free sitting fees (although if you are a portrait club member you dont have to pay fees, ask about this if you are interested). You can go extravagent or cheap, they have lots of different packages. (check out the package for $7.99)
I am buying my son a nice outfit for his birthday, getting his picture taken, and then throwing him a party with his own personal cake. I will probably get him an outfit or two, but I would get those for him anyway.
Good Luck finding somthing that is right for you to get her.
PS I also take some of the pictures that I get and make scrapbooks for my kids. I plan on giving them to them when they get older, or married or whatever. Thats an idea also, start a scrapbook of her first year. She might not appreciate it now, but she will love it when she gets older. My 3 year old will sit and look at her book for hours and make me tell her the stories to each picture.

Why on earth are you worried? I know it is an important date in her life as well as yours, but believe me she will not know any difference. Maybe you should think about buying her something that she can have as a keepsake later on in life and as a remembrance of her first birthday. Maybe a golden locket with her photo in it at one, or a family photograph in a nice frame. Or even a name bracelet with the date craved on the back. But don't get worried about it - enjoy it!

Instead of buying her gifts as it looks like she already has lots of toys, jewellery, etc, why not pay to have some professional photo's done of her!! It can be someting nice that she will be able to treasure when she is older!! And also something you can treasure!
And also if you have family and friends you are are likely to buy toys, clothes, jewellery etc why not just say to them look can you give money instead please as I would like to set up an account for her. You can continue adding to it as she gets older and the money can be used when she is older and goes off to university or wants a holiday or something like that!!

We all spoil our kids and I can see your point of not knowing what to buy.....
Why not have a lil tea party for her and some of your friends babies or take her for a day out somewhere like the wacky warehouse and she can play in the ball pond etc....
Don't be too worried about overdoing it, as she really is too young to realise that it is her birthday - believe me in years to come she will have many more birthdays that will have you pulling your hair out because of her demands!

My daughter celebrated her birthday last week. We bought her a swing set so that she can be active and outdoors. She also has a sand box. Other suggestions: storage for all her stuff, like a toy box for her room and/or storage for outdoor toys.

She's only one dude. How many toys can she have? Chill out. There is only so much a one year old can do. Make sure and get her the personel small cake just for herself so she can dig her hands in it. That will make her happy I'm sure.
