I hope very much that he runs, and soon! We need someone with character, charisma and integrity leading this country.

As far as being a trained actor, I don't believe that he was. His first role in a movie, he played himself. In the beginning of his career, he was on the Watergate council that brought Nixon down. He then brought to light a scandal in which a Tennessean governor was selling pardons to criminals. This scandal became the subject of the movie in which Thompson played himself.

He shares the same values that I hold important. I will certainly be voting for him if he runs.

Seriously, do you think he has the experience to be President? 8 years being a Senator and time as a lawyer and a lot of acting.

People are jumping all over Obama not having enough experience and I'll admit that this does concern me, even though I like everything else about him. Obama will have had 4 years as Senator, if elected and many years in the Illinois legislature and leadership positions in other organizations to which he belonged.

Obama and Thompson both impress as public speakers, but Thompson is a trained actor. Doesn't that worry you?

I've been impressed with him for a long time. Not sure why he 's reluctant to entry the arena.

He is an example of how "Hollywood types" should join the political process. Not from the outside slinging mud (e.g. Rosie, Farrel, Clooney), but from within where ideas can be debated fairly (e.g. Eastwood, Bono, Arnold, Reagan).

I think he's a better actor than Reagan was, so why not.....A lot of people took him (Reagan) serious enough to vote him into office, and I'm sure a lot of those same people,or their spawn, are still around to vote for another Hollywood actor as well...(remember,Fred, some of the people CAN be fooled ALL of the time )

Fred will be the next President of the United States. He could clean Obama and Clinton's clock.

why is it that every republican thinks the Hollywood set should be seen and not heard
until an actor says he's one of them?

Maybe the only traditional Conservative republican in the run. The rest kinda scare me.

From what I have seen he would have my vote...he seems pretty savvy too, the dems would have their hands full going to battle against him...

Well he's definitely got the "gravitas" and "likability" to be a legitimate contender.
