cps just wants to take my children because of my past criminal history

That question can be answered by looking at how long ago the crime was committed. If the worker is bent on taking your kids over something that happened 10 years ago, then she has got to be involved for other reasons, unless your crime was an axe murder or something of some significant abuse toward kids.

If she is truly invloved over some trouble you got into, and it has been fairly recent, maybe get another family member to care for the kids, but in the meantime work toward a reunification goal, if any like that is set, to get your kids back.

You really don't have no other choice but to do as cps says, because if they sense any type of opposition out of you, they will make your life miserable. Beware!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you haven't already, obtain a lawyer, and by all means, not a public defender! In my experience, public defenders are too overworked and overloaded with cases to give yours the fair representation it deserves. I understand that this may not ring true with all pd's , but it does for most of them.

Most of all, again, cooperate with cps to the best of your abilities. it may seem tough, and especially if you have a social worker who is bent on tormenting you and constantly making you pay for her taking your kids, just cooperate, and this too shall pass.

You don't want to make enemies out of cps, but at the same time, know your rights, and don't let them trample all over yours. If your case goes to court, ask your attorney or your judge to speak openly, let her/him know that you have learned your lesson and you are a changed person who is ready to accept the role of a responsible father again. YOU HAVE TO DO THIS, don't expect your public defender to do this for you if you wind up with one still.

Ask your courts for a guard ad litem (someone who is appointed by the courts to be a voice for the children) if you have a good g.a.l it can do wonders! Lastly, I would like to wish you the best of luck, and from experience, to hang in there, because you will have a long road ahead of you!

You'll need to prove you have changed and for the moment go along with everyone they ask of you, whether it be undergo drugs tests or whatever, to show that you are serious about being a good parent to your children. Keep on the right side of them, if you start losing your temper etc you're not going to help your case so keep sweet and play by their rules. It's for your children, it's worth it.

You have to show that you have really changed. Cooperate with what the social worker wants, and always be polite. If you have a good social worker, it will probably work out all right. If you have a bad one, I feel for you. But sometimes you can get the social worker changed, if you speak to their supervisor. I wish you the best.
