If your tank temperature is not too high, all you need is a bubble stone, set it in the middle of the tank floor and run it. Should solve your problem within a few hours.

Because you have a 180 litre tank, even 2 are good enough, else use 1 with a 240 gallon per hour pressure pump.

One of two problems. First off, what has your water been testing out at? Are the nitrates or ammonia high? If so do a 25% water change immediately. This will help with the ammonia and nitrates.

Also, your fish are using more oxygen than you are putting into the tank. your fish breath dissolved oxygen. This only enters the water thru movement against air. Filters, powerheads, wind, waves waterfalls etc. Try lowering your tank water by 1/2 inch and allow your filter to POUR water into the tank. This will add much needed DO2 to the water.

Also, be sure the temperature is set correctly.

Good luck

Sometimes, you have to look at what you've done to the aquarium in the last day or two... did you do a water change? over feed? or could something spilled into it? the higher the temp is the less oxygen can enter the water. if you did a water change and didn't use a declorinator, your fishes gills could have been burned. sometimes if you overfeed, the amonia rockets up and burns the fishes gills also... I once was called out to an aquarium that look good, clear, water chemestry good and still the fish looked distrest, so I did a water change and with that the water smelled like pine needles... A house cleaner was washing the floors and set the bucket on the aquarium and some must have dripped in.... check it out and remember fish are our freinds.....not food....

Check the temperature. Maybe the water is too warm. Also check the chemicals to make sure they are ok. Make sure your filter is clean. Maybe they do need more oxygen. You can a little bubbler thing to put in the water. Call a local pet store. If none of this works. They might have some other ideas.

Add an airstone/air pump to the tank immediately. Be sure to check the water levels (ph, ammonia & nitrite). They might not be gasping for air persay, they may be choking on something in the water. If you need take a water sample to your LFS and have them test the water and while your there definately pick up an air pump and airstone.
Good Luck

What about an air pump? Do you have one?
An air pump is essential cos these fish are not labyrinth. The oxygen in the water has depleted, hence they are gasping for breath. Get an air pump/oxygenator.

Never put real coins in your tank! It messes with the chemicals in the water and will adversely affect your fish as well.

It sounds like your fish don't have enough oxygen. You may need an air pump or air stone to generate more.
