Please rank these these regions in Spain for cost of living. I'm applying for a teacher assistant program that pays a stipend of 631 euros after taxes. Where would I be able to maximize my money and have the best experience? I want to avoid Madrid because I've visited there before and capitals tend to be the most expensive area.

Autonomous Regions participating:
Andalucía
Aragón
Asturias
Cantabria
Castilla-La Mancha
Castilla-León
Extremadura
Madrid
País Vasco
La Rioja
… Other

Thanks!

Extremadura and Castilla Leon are two of the cheapest areas to live. They are also two of the hardest areas to intergrate.... If you are in a school that should give you almost immediate access to a group of people though. Just be aware that people in these areas are a little more conservative than most.

For the experience you want to be in Andalucia. Of course its a little more expensive to live and very expensive if you are on or near the coast.

If you try for say Granada you could easily find a house share with uni students which will help your money go that bit further. Also you have the option of giving private evening classes to children cash in hand. This is far easier in the cities than the villages...

Hope that helps in some way

i agree avoid madrid!......

certain parts of andalucia are ok, people may say that buy the coast its more expensive, but not necessarily, as long as your willing to hunt out the bargains, you dont have to live right in the center, you could move just outside of the 'main area' and you save a fortune.
I grew up in malaga, but am now buying a property in murcia.
I have visited madrid (way overpriced for evrerything!!) and asturias. I found asturias a real bargain, i had a friend that live there and his rent was really cheap compared to down south!.
i dont really know about the other areas, but id suggest looking at the murcia region, i think its very good value for money there

Maybe the most cheap region to live is Andalucia or Extremadura. Avoid Madrid and Barcelona. It depends on the city in some cases, and not the region .

P.D. Try to find a flatmate to pay the rent.
