Depends how he phrased it. If he means that profits made in 2007 will be taxed at 28p in 2008 he could have a point. It's stretching it a bit though but hey, he's a politician!

Britain is currently 15th in the league of countries with the lowest/highest corp tax. In 2008 it will be 10th. Try Ireland, it's no.1 now and will be still in 2008 at 12.5%

because its currently 30p which is the lowest in G7 when it goes down to 28p it will be even lower.

And in the same breath announces he is putting small business tax up by 3%. Not good news for a sole trader like me.
