Its not a matter of erasing it. BUT...What did you personally suffer. Were YOU SOLD/kidnapped, raped, shackled and so on? Did any of this happen to you personally?
Now since I didn't personally do any of those things why should I have to pay anything or even feel guilty? Black people were not the only ones enslaved.
If the police came to your house and arrested you for murder and you can prove beyond shadow of a doubt that you didn't wouldn't you have an issue with it? Would you go and try to make amends with the victims family, NO, because you didn't commit the crime.
No body is saying erase it all, but it is 2007, its way past time to move on.

We don't want to erase it, we are just tired of the whining about it. It did NOT happen to YOU! I did NOT cause it. I could NOT care less about it. I am amazed that every black person in this country does not always have a head ache because you won't pick the cotton out of the blasted bottle. If you want to be equal, quit complaining, quit accusing black people with good jobs of being white on the inside, and get rid of ALL EO policies so you will know what equality really is.

Start with the thumbs all you brain washed drones.

You know, much of what you quote seems to have come from a viewing of Roots. Many blacks were sold into slavery by their own people. AND, muslims took blacks, forcibly, for slaves 300 years before white Europeans did. Furthermore, no one alive today did any slaving, you included. Many people went through hardships - Irish indenturned servants, native americans, etc. And from what I see, blacks are the biggest danger to each other that exists today - nearly every gang shooting I see is black on black. Get over it

I don't think you should generalize. Not ALL white people are like that. Actually, I think most people realize all that African Americans have been through. Everyone has suffered. Look at the Jewish Americans and the Japanese Americans who were in concentration camps. Life can contain suffering and wrong-doings. But, pointing blame at all white people for your ancestors suffering isn't a good way to fix it.

No one wants to erase anything, we're just sick and tired of hearing everything from heartaches to hangnails blamed on "Whitey" and "my great great great grandpappy was a slave, blah blah blah".

News flash, doll, blacks weren't the only slaves in the history of the world. The Irish were indentured servants whose conditions were no better, if not worse. Oftentimes, planters sent Irish in to do jobs they wouldn't send their blacks in to do. Why? They had no investment in the Irishman other than his wages for the day or week, unlike the slave, in whom he'd most likely invested a deal of money, and, if sold, that money could be gotten back, but, if he was killed in dangerous conditions, it was lost.

However, do you hear the descendants of the indentured servants or the Irish immigrants wailing and moaning over things that happened over 100 years ago? Nope, not hardly. Look at the Mexicans who are coming over to the USA. They work in some piss-poor conditions, but, they are trying to better themselves. Sounds like a lesson to be learned.

I do not want to erase all you have been through, but I do not want to hear about it every time we speak. Yes, it worse than terrible and it must never be forgotten but neither should it be the total focus of our lives. The same is true of the Jews and the Holocaust; terrible, but let us get on with life and think about the future.

No one wants to erase what SLAVES went through. YOU are not a slave. That is a part of HISTORY. There have been many, many races that have been through as bad if not worse. What about the Holocaust? What about genocide in general? Dufar? Iraq? What your ancestor suffered, gave YOU a better life. Same as ALL our ancestors have done for us. We should all be thankful for those who came before us.

First of all, you aren't the only people who have suffered. Everyone has suffered. I mean look at what the hispanics are going through, the muslims are going through (the innocents) There is nothing you can do about the past. I think people are embarrased of what happened and don't want to face it. People are ashamed of what they did, they don't need to be reminded of it everyday. I repeat, YOU GUYS AREN"T THE ONLY ONES WHO HAVE SUFFERED
