This might be a question to ask yourself when you have your own children. However, as a parent of two daughters (age 24, twins, one straight, one bisexual), I would never have allowed you to watch that program at age 11. However I also did not allow my kids to watch the nightly news at that age, or horror movies, or much TV at all. I think soap operas (and that's what the L Word is) are mind suckers like most TV. There are better things to do with your time, like reading.
Just to make myself clear, I think all TV is inappropriate for kids (and adults for that matter) because it encourages them to sit on their behinds and their brains go to mush. Unfortunately the Internet doesn't do much better.

Well...not exactly. Today exposure has made children more curious earlier and the age was appropriate for exhibiting curiosity, especially about something that was being hidden from you or were not allowed to see. Don't worry. With growing maturity, you have yourself realized that they should not be watched and that's a good sign.

It all depends on how quickly you matured mentally. For example, I was honestly ready to get married and settle down at 14, but many would consider that too young. It all comes down to maturity.

Never too young. It is the maturity of the person that counts
