This is after the FA's failure to charge Newcastle Uniteds Emre with racist abuse towards Everton players even though Everton presented "overwhelming evidence" against Emre.

There are always going to be glaring ballsups like this I´m afraid, but of course the campaign itself is worthwhile. I'm old enough to remember when a huge part of english football culture was completely dominated by mindless rascist thugs. None of my non-white mates could ever go to a match for fear of being attacked by idiots who were supposedly supporting the same team, and it was nothing unusual to see swastika armbands on the terraces. It sounds crazy, but it really was that bad in the seventies; at least around the London clubs, and as I recall, not much better in Leeds, Manchester and Newcastle amongst others. The football crews were one of the main recruiting areas for many right-wing organizations. Initiatives like the current one have been responsible for gradually changing attitudes on the pitch and off. When was the last time you saw a black player pelted with bananas?

Yes of course it is. It is more about the fans than the players.

Its a fact that English fans are better behaved since the campaign began.

If the players want to still act like idiots, it is up to the FA and the clubs to take action.

it really depends on the circumstances. for fans it's terrible to shout abuse and chant monkey noises and there are many cases when ueafa have closed grounds due to this, although not in England, but with players it seems to be different. a player as a person won't want to be seen as a racist, especially when they have a club full of foreign players, and in this country we try and brush quite a bit under the carpet to make our league look a better place to be.

Everton obviously didn't supply OVERWHELMING evidence, otherwise he would have been found guilty.

As for the campaign being worthwhile or not, anything that combats racism, in any walk of life, is definately worthwhile

It may not punish every action but of course it is worthwhile. I'd rather have something like this than not have it. The campaign is --trying to prevent-- and speak out against this type of stuff, so they are doing what they can. They may not get to everything, but they are trying.

it's definately worthwhile because if it's dropped that's like saying the racists have won. although the newcastle thing was terrible that nothing was done.

No, nothing will change, people say things in the heat of the moment, it doesn't mean they are racist, it just means their mouthe's are faster than their brains.
