i found out last tuesday that i'm pregnant. the doctor and midwife reckon i'm around 20-24 weeks pregnant due to the size of my bump when they examined me etc etc.

now cos i dont have regular periods (i only used to have around 2 periods a year) we cant find out the date of my last period (or when it should have been) but cos my boyfriend is in the army i know the rough dates of when i would have conceived (24th dec - 2nd jan).

i reckon i'm around 15 weeks pregnant, give or take, because if it was my ex-boyfriends, i'd be around 8 months pregnant and the doc said i was definately not that far gone!

so if i was 20-24 weeks pregnant i wouldn't have a baby inside me or it wouldn't have a father if ya know what i mean!!! can anyone please shed some light on this as im getting fairly anxious now!!!

i have been with my boyfriend since the beginning of december so that question couldn't have been only 2 months ago. perhaps it was a bit longer than that.

i didn't have a clue cos my periods arent regular so i didnt have any idea when i was due on or not. my bump came out all of a sudden which is what made me go to the doctors. apart from that i have had no symptoms other wise.

You need to inform the doctor and midwife that you were celibate during the time frame that would put you at 20-24 weeks. If they don't believe you, find another midwife or doctor.

This could be very serious because if you are indeed only 15 weeks but they treat you as 20-24 weeks you could end up being considered overdue but actually preterm. An induction for an overdue baby could result in a preemie.

Your due date is the last week of planned gestation. It starts on the 1st day of your last period (typically) and ends 40 weeks later. That's the *technical* calendar - there's something like only 8% of children actually born on their due date. No, you aren't "pregnant" between your period starting (again, typically) and when you actually ovulate, bump uglies and get officially knocked up, but it is all part of the gestational calendar.

SO, that being said, let's pretend that you started your period on the 19th of December ...that would mean that you were probably ovulating about 2 weeks later (Jan 2nd), and that would make you about 13 weeks pregnant now... because you start counting how many weeks pregnant you are from your period date, not your boot-knockin date. If it was earlier - say the 10th of December, ovulating around the 24th of December, which would put you at 14 1/2 weeks.

That's all not to say that you couldn't be measuring larger right now, or throughout your pregnancy. Some kids are big, others small. There's only guessing right now.

Make sure that you talk with your Dr./midwife and ask all the questions you can think of. It may be pretty important to let them know that you only had sex between those dates. Having an excessively larger kid in you could be signs of something... maybe not, I'm not sure of that kind of stuff... but it's VERY wise of you to tell them EVERYTHING you know, so their guessing is at a minimum.

Good luck and congratulations!

I am sure you will have an ultrasound done soon and they will be able to tell you what far along you are by the development of the baby's organs. You are just going to have to remember the last time you had sex with the last man you slept with. And that is the daddy for your baby,

you are right, if those are the conception dates the most you should be is barely 15 weeks, you will have to have an ultrasound to really find out how far along you are, and not to scare you but if you are measuring that much more, maybe you are having twins ??? I had twins and I always measured much further ahead

I would guess you are 15 weeks like you think you are. At 24 weeks you would have known I believe. The doctor should order an ultrasound to detemine your due date.

How in the world can you be THAT pregnant and not know it???? My guess is that you are actually around 15 weeks but measuring bigger. Eight months is very far along and you would be looking like you are ready to deliver...

If you are pregnant with twins, your bump would be bigger. Still, the baby's postition, fibrous tumors in the uterus, or many other things could be affecting measurements. Don't sweat it. See what happens at the next visit and feel free to mention your concerns to you midwife.

According to your other topics, you just started seeing someone about 2 months ago, and are worried because he's not spending enough time with you.
Which is it????
BUT............................................

I don't think your ex-boyfriend is the father, and I'm sure your "new" boyfriend is not the father.

I "reckon" you better start getting to the doctor to have the baby checked out.

How could you NOT KNOW you were gaining weight????
