There are teachers, and then there are TEACHERS. The aim for every teacher should be the same. To provide their students with knowledge, to know how to solve problems independently. Whether it's reading, writing or arithmetic, if you are not shown how, you can not advance. The objective should be to have every student successful. A measure of a good teacher should be, how successful their students are.

The aim of a good teacher should be to inspire the love of learning and to help students to become free thinkers. Teach the objectives but teach kids to think and not to simply regurgitate the facts.

The aim and objective of a teacher is to see that his/her pupils get really learned in the truest sense of the term. The pupil should be trained so that he/she would be able to face the world and more importantly serve the world. That the pupil become an asset of this earth that the world would cherish. Make the pupil always remember that the purpose that we are born here is to serve humanity- the ultimate goal in this planet.

Not to teach, to change.
If in one year you change a negative girl living in a poor neighborhood who hates school and doesn't have a future to a girl who may be poor, but at least has a future, and has discovered she wants to be a writer. If you can change a childs world, make them open their minds and hearts, then they soak up information like a sponge. The Child should be seen as a little friend, who needs guidence, not an object that is your job. In my opinion, that makes a good teacher.

The objective as a teacher is to bring about social changes through the eyes of thier learners. They need to empower their learners to be self directed and to reinforce their 'positive self-concept'. This in turn would develop a positive learning attitude. In other words teachers should be "the guide at the side and not the sage on the stage"

Being a good teacher means being patient, showing compassion, and treating a student with respect. Treat the student like an equal teaching him/her how to be a good learner and leader.
