I just got verizon DSL. The speed they told me is 768kbps for download and 128kbps for upload.
When I download a file from rapidshare the file is downloaded only at 32kbps... Is this slow?????
I thought it would download at least at 75 or 85 kbps...

Correct me if i am wrong. By 32 Kbps just check if you are getting 32 Kbps or 32 KBps.

One is bits per second and the later is bytes per second.

If you get 32 KBps on ur connection you are getting 256 Kbps which is ok.

Go to www.download.com and download and install DU Meter.

Go to www.microsoft.com and to download page and download some big files.

Your DU meter should show ur connection speed and real time internet usage.

Internet speed also depends on the server at the other side.

Still need help get back to me.

the speed is depented from the area that you live firs of all.when you get connected you should see if your connection is at 768kbps.if that ok you should know that the downloads are dividing 768.so if you have 3 downloads is like 768 divided by 3 minus the connection minus the cookies minus the internet explorer.........crappy,right?

Do a search for "speed test" , go to one of the sites and check your speed.
