I watch news and read paper and I will tell you I hate both the Democrats and the Republicans. They are basically the same beast no matter what any of them say. People voted in the Democrats because they wanted change but here we keep getting the same old song just in a different key.
Isn't it about time we go for REAL change and start voting for Independents? People say it is throwing my vote away but from what I see voting for either of the 2 main parties is a wasted vote because they never DO ANYTHING THEY SAY THEY WILL, and the lack the balls to do what is needed over what is popular.

Mixed Up: I see your point but I don't think anyone has ever been able to prove they could do the job before they got it.
The Dem and Gop were given a chance and both parties have beaten, abused, raped and pissed on that chance....not that I'm bitter

I couldnt agree more.Anyone that wants real change in this country should vote libratarian.Check out there website.www.libratarian.com.
These will be the next true leaders of this country. They will get my vote and hopefully alot more.
You hit it on the head.Current government is a joke.Republicans with there bushy boy,and the democrats with there fingerpointing. They will never get anywhere.
Nancy Pelosi what a con artist.
These 2 parties are ruining this great country that our forefathers gave to us.Not government. We still have the power if we can get the majority of middle class people to open there eyes and quit believing in a broken system that only cares about feeding itself.
That is the way I see it.Now go out there and vote Libratarian and watch change happen almost overnight.

The problem is that there are not enough people voting Independent...and the problem is also with a lot of polls. They often only list the top candidates or the top two parties.
I wish everyone would vote independent, but too many people are afraid of true change and will continue with the two party system. If and until we get a system of government closer to the Aussie system where the elected officials are determined by percentages, instead of our electoral college, things will never change.
Both Dems and Reps want to keep the current system of voting because it benefits them.

Yes, and if no independents are running for any given office in your voting district; your system is broken. What is worse is: elected positions that only have one candidate. There should always be a choice; even if it is for the park board or even the town dog catcher; if it's on the ballot.
If political parties have any function at all, it should be to make sure there is a choice. Even if the candidate will not get even one vote.

Vote for the candidate who best matches your vision. The problem is, the main D and R candidates won't express that vision. As we get closer to 2008, watch for independent surveys that are sent to candidates to get their positions. The independent, Green, Libertarian, Natural Law (they still around?), Socialist, etc. will give detailed answers. The major party candidates, even before primary season, will skip the multiple choice and stick in a stock "I'm for it, unless you're not, in which case I'm agin it" statement.

The problem is that independants cannot prove that they could do a better job. To tell you the truth, I'm fed up with all three and I think I'll just vote for Al Sharpton.

personally, i vote my conscience...it doesnt matter to me whether the person is democrat, republican, or independent as long as i feel he/she is the right person for the job...good ideas have no party affiliation.

normally, I would agree with you. However seeing as there is a very high chance of a Clinton/Obama lock up, I'm down for that.
