As a lifelong Sabres fan, I would love it.
However, I have that nervous feeling in my gut as I think teams have learned how to play against them rather well recently.
Let us hope they can get on a good run...

I think Buffalo has a great shot IF Ryan Miller plays better than he has. He has not been all that great the past month or two. The Western Conference teams are so much better defensively than most of the Eastern Conference teams. I think it is going to be really hard for any Eastern team without a Martin Brodeur-calibre goalie to win it all. That said, I am not sure the Devils have the firepower up front. That said, if Ryan Miller can rise up and take it to the next level, the Sabres have as good of a shot as anyone. They have some good experience from last year, and they have great depth. That could take them a long way. I wouldn't bet the farm on them, but you could do worse.

As a Sabres fan, I will say yes anyways, but still.. Sabres got so much depth in their starting lineup. All 4 lines can score, which not many teams can do that. They got Daniel Briere, the best player on the team without a doubt to me, Chris Drury, an experienced veteran who was on some of the best teams I've ever seen back on the Avalanche. There is also Thomas Vanek, a great all-around player, and one of the best in the league in front of the net who, just a few years ago, was just a guy who was coming up from the AHL, Rochester Americans, trying to make the starting lineup. Briere is also one of the best players in the NHL behind the net, gotta watch out for them. They also got Jason Pominville, very good, and also coming from Rochester, and is very famous for his Game 5 shorthanded goal vs the Senators last season, going crazy. We also got Maxim Afinogenov, one of the most entertaining, fastest, and agile players in the NHL behind players like Crosby and Kovalchuk. We also got Ryan Miller, he's good, and can come through in the clutch making amazing saves. He's young, and he is one of the many players that could shape this franchise in the future. Then we can't forget, the one guy that hasn't been around in a long time, Tim Connolly. Connolly last season was one of the best, if not the best, Sabre on the team. He'd make highlight reel goals tons of times. When he was coming down 1 on 1 vs a defender and he was on the outside of the net, he'd backhand it over the goalies shoulder, where others would just give up and hold up for his teammates. He's determined, has great eyes, and I could see the Sabres going ALL the way for the first time in franchise history and finish off what Rene Robert, Gilbert Perrault, and Paul Martin started back vs Philly.

I think the Sabres have the talent to go deep into the playoffs again this year but without some of our starters coming back off injury I think it may be hard to go all the way. The Sabres did fight the injury bug last year but not to this extent so i will be anxious to see who makes it back into the line up next month to get some playing time before the postseason starts. If the Sabres stay healthy I think they have all the potential to be the next in line to Lord Stanley's cup.

I think the cup is going out west this year. There are far too many western powerhouses. In the east you have the sabres the sens and the devils. everyone else is shaky. How cool would a Detroit & Toronto series be though?

NO Unfortunetly, the DUCKS, RED WINGS, even the PREDATORS are Capable of beating the SABRES, for both the Stanley and Presidents CUPS.
Its all about Points and Wins, Buffalo isn't good enough to be champs, Sorry.

If recent Eastern Conference trends continue, the team that will make it out of the east will either be New Jersey, or a team from the Southeast Division.

My team is not making the playoffs so from a neutral standpoint as of right now I would say no. They have to many injuries to deal with right now and all the teams needs to get healthy in order to go all they way. The only way it will happen with injuries is if Ryan Miller carries them, which didn't work last year.

I don't know about this. They have all the ingredients to win the whole thing, but one bad break after another seems to happen with Buffalo sports teams. Instead of "No Goal," what will happen this year? Maybe another Phantom goal going through the side of the net.
