Do they realize they don't have the power to force the President's cabinet to testify in this instance?
If so, should the Dems in congress be impeached?

The President has the authority to fire any and all of the attornies as he sees fit. They are HIS appointments.
This Dem witch hunt has now lowered their approval rating to 28%. Much worse than Bush's.

No, they are not. The statistics show that the justice department has been on an open campaign against the Dems since Bush took office. While it is true that Bush has the right to fire any of them, it's also true that the judiciary should be kept free of political persecution of the opposing party. Many of these attorneys (all Republicans, I might add) are being accused of poor, performance when in fact, they are aomg the best performers in the justice department. This wil severely affest their future job prospects.
If the administration wants the truth to come out, they will let them testify. If they have somethig to hide, they'll fight this tooth and nail.

Seems to me republicans even here in yahooanswers are trying to keep the truth hidden. If he's been so great and good and honestly looking out for the interests of the American people, it will shine under testimony won't it? Why not do it? It's gotta' be cheaper than the "shock-and-awe" campaign. If it was a Dem up there, you'd be crying to have him strung up before congress. And I'd agree with you. The white house should be as clear as glass top the american people. Instead its like an "Iron Curtain". hmph.

They are not trampling on the Constitution. Go and read it. You will see they built in separation of church and state, and checks and balances, something that had been ignored by the previous Republican led Congress.
In reference to the Cabinet, anyone confirmed by the Congress can and will be subject to reporting to Congress UNDER OATH.
I was not born in this country but I damn well know that. I chose to read upon my adopted nation's laws and constitution, bill of rights instead of listening to partisans.
Edit: Bush along with his Attorney General have politicized the Justice Department. Investigations into Democrats were at a 7:1 ratio over Republicans. There were 298 investigations of Democrats versus just 67 of Republicans. The problem they ran into was that there was more evidence being turned up on Republicans ( Duke Cunningham, Bob Ney etc) than on the people they had hoped would have been dragged down.
U.S. Attorney David Iglesias- N.M. was fired because it was felt that he was not indicting Democrats fast enough and particularly before the Nov 2006 election. There was not enough evidence.
U.S. Attorney Carol Lam-CA was fired because she was pursuing an ever widening corruption probe that had started as a result of the investigation into disgraced Republican Rep. Randy "Duke" Cunningham.
U.S. Attorney John Mckay of Seattle was fired because he did not pursue a voter fraud allegation against the Democratic Gubernatorial candidate in the hotly contested 2004. There was absolutely no evidence to warrant an investigation. This was also used a reason not to consider him for a judgeship. How more vindicitve could they be.
U. S. Attorney Bud Cummins AR. was pursuing corruption and fraud cases involving FEMA and he was replaced by a Karl Rove crony who did not have the prosecutorial experience for the job.
U.S. Attorney Daniel Bogden Las Vegas fired to "give somebody else that experience" to build up the back bench of Republicans by giving them high-profile jobs.
Then there is the little remembered U.S. attorney who was ousted to stop an investigation into Jack Abramoff.
U.S. Attorney Frederick A. Black had investigators looking into Abramoff's secret arrangement with Superior Court officials to lobby against a court revision bill then pending in the U.S. Congress. A grand jury subpoena was issued Nov. 18, 2002. A day later U.S. Atty. Frederick A. Black was demoted. The investigation went away soon after that.
This is not a witch hunt. The Congress need to take back the unilateral powers the spineless Republican led Congress gave away to the President.
I can damn well bet if this had been a Democratic President, you would be screaming for his head on a platter you hypocrite.

You really must show us what part of the constitution prevents the cogress from forceing members of the Presidents cabinet to testify. Anyone can be called to testifiy before congress. No one is above the law including the President.

The attorneys were fired due to poor performance
Even though they were ranked in the top 1/3 of all attorneys for case load and convictions
If George W Bush had such a record he wouldn't be hated and despised by a great percentage of the world
Mr Bush does not even rate in the top 2% of American presidents

Putting the whole Democrat/Republican stuff aside, let's get right down to brass tax here...do you not want to know the truth of how this government is being handled???? I don't understand why people are raising such a fuss over the Bush administration being held accountable for their actions. I personally want to know what's going on, don't you??
