there will be a notice about planning permission somewhere nearby. look carefully, they can be really sneaky. it happened to a friend of mine but she found it, pinned to a pole in the middle of the field! you can object to your local planning offices but it has to be within a certain time. my friend and her neighbours objected and won, so there is hope

The quick answer is to buy the land yourself!! High Density Development is now insisted upon by the government who insist that Planning departments only permit developments at a density of NO LESS than 30 units/ hectare (just over 12/acre). The alternative to back garden development is green field development. Vote to allow green field development is the long term answer.

Firstly you need to inform the local Archaeologists. They might perform a dig there and that will last at least 4 weeks. If they find something, it will lengthen the dig by several months and depending on what is found, the site may come under a preservation order.

If you can find any rare animals or plants on the area they will not be able to build. Or try suggesting there's some interesting archaeology underneath. Other than that, object on grounds of noise, light reduction and over-development. Best of luck!
