thats pretty specific!
regonise it for what it is. Fortune tellers were the old days early equivelant of psycho-therapists, giving you a random stream of images and notions which you then use to apply to your own life and make sense of it. you would walk out feeling more of a sense of direction.
Try this the next time anyone goes to a fortune teller, write down all the generic popular mans names, David, John, matthew, Mark, Paul, Richard etc etc and then see how many of those names turn up in your "reading".
when they ask "do you know a "Paul"?. If you don't know a "Paul", then the wonderful thing about "fortune telling" is, if they get it wrong thewy can always say "well, you WILL meet a Paul..." cracking stuff! :)

Well there are many types of fortune tellers, and some are very good, and yes i have had predictions come true which never in a million years would i have believed it, but it came true, but just like a lot things there are many fakes, and cons. I would never pay one of those you see in the paper because they are rubbish, i made that mistake once never again, all they ask for is money and tell you nothing, but some are true.
Love & Peace

Honestly, I think the majority of fortune tellers are big old fakes. I've seen plenty. Although I enjoy going when I'm feeling a bit down because it gives me a "lift". It makes me feel happier and optimistic again and for £20 that's worth it for me.
However, I have seen one who I totally believe was 100% the genuine article. She was a medium rather than a clairvoyant and she told me very specific, personal things that I have never told anyone in my life. Her predictions did come true on every level.
I've been trying to find her for 6 months to see her again and I can't get in touch with her. She was definitely a one off.

A lot of the time a fortune teller can gain your confidence by telling you things about yourself which seem incredibly true. This is called the Forer Effect as it applies to basically anybody of any age, male or female. Once they have your trust they can use you to line their pockets. IMO ;) Psychics, mediums and fortune tellers all the same:
The source I've included shows an example of the Forer Effect. Read it to anyone and I'll bet it fits. :)

I believe the mind is a very powerful thing. Capable of a lot more than we realise. I think psychics can help guide us in some things and i firmly believ that some can receive messages for the dead. Ive had messages from my Dad, via a medium. But I dont think they can tell fortunes or fates for that matter. Besides...who would want to know what the future holds? Surely its best to take control of the future ourselves and not leave what could or couldnt be to be determined by a pack of cards or crystal ball? Having said that, good card readers will do just a good a job as a good counsellor. Helping and guiding you to find your own answers, enabling you to determine your own future and happiness.

Well, fortune tellers, I mean a good one, may predict a lot of things right. But that´s is not Magic on the ordinary sense of the word, it is just a natural hability to "read" unconscious physical signs people give away all the time, by those, one if well trained may predict anyone´s reactions to whatever situation asked, therefore it will in the end be confirmed. It´s kinda like forensic psychology or "reading" a poker player´s face during a match. That is called "Cold Reading", you may wanna google the term or look for it on Wikipedia.

Some are real, most are fakers.
By word of mouth, how you will find the genuine ones I know one with a fearsome reputation who is also an excorcist
She will tell you what will happen in your future regardless of the impact it will have on you.
I am genuinely too afraid to visit her, why? because of knowing the bad stuff and things that wont work out that i want to
I should see her really, but I would have to be brave

Not all are fake. But how would you tell fake from genuine???? My astrologer told me very accurately when I was to marry and even the description of the man I would marry turned out to be 100% correct. Though I never depended on his predictions and led my life as I pleased. But after marriage I just remembered his words..

suggest you be cynical and skeptical as they are mainly after money. did a Sociology paper on these and psychics years ago and the answers received were inconsistent with each other or where the reader could interpret the answer the way they wanted. received ads 10 years after the class was over from psychics i never heard of. recently in order to help answer questions here answered an ad from a psychic for a " free answer " to one question but upon filling out the information they wanted a credit card number. hope this helps.

A good intuitive can pick up on energy that might otherwise be lost to the human way of looking at things. In my practise I can usually pick up on things in your past, things that are going on in your life now, and I can show you different paths and avenues, and what they might mean for your future. I would never direct you to DO anything, free will belongs to the person I am reading for, it is their possession, not mine, I have my own, thank you. We are here for guidance and direction, you are here to make up your own mind and to deal with the consequences of your own actions. I am in no way a "cold reader" as a good deal of my readings are done via internet, and even a good reader can not physically see hundreds or thousands of miles in front of her, but psychically is a different story.
