I am getting ready to get a camaro and I have heard that if it is a convertable or T-tops that there is so much torque that it can hurt the car. Is this true? If I get a camaro with T-tops, will it be ok to drag race?

if your under about 500 horsepower, i wouldnt worry about it. think of all the convertable cars with more then 300 horsepower, viper, vette, lambo, just to name a few.

go have some fun!

As long as it is stock, there shouldn't be too much of an issue. Long term, there is a chance that the torque from the launch will gradually twist the frame, causing the T-tops to never truly align properly (become leaky).

To remedy this problem, look into some structural support mods for the car. Pick up some Sub-Frame Connectors and a Strut Tower Brace before you do too much racing. Not only will these mods keep your car "straight," it will also make the car handle a lot smoother. I put both mods on my car, and the difference is night and day (makes you wonder why they weren't installed on the car at the factory).

Hope that helps. If you need links for parts, email me. Good luck to you, and enjoy the car!

well you never no because if it has to much torque it could tear the rear axle off but i doubt that it has that much torque
