According to some polls, for whatever they are worth, 80% of Americans want term limits on congress, they have lost faith in the electorate to do their job. This means that those who re-elect crooks have been bought and paid for just like the crook in congress.

Why is this issue not in the news? or on the internet? or on TV? Why does the media have a bias against term limits.

Term limits has been introduced several times, gone for a vote once or twice and been defeated by the dems in congress. For all of you partisan hacks go look it up before you start your shrill whining. Dems want control for life.

Maybe if we vote against ALL in congress that have served two terms we could turn it over and get more honest people in there. Congress is not rocket science, you do not need experience, you need character, morals and honesty, those are the only requirements to do the job.

There should definitely be limits on the number of times a person can serve in Congress.

Perfect example: James Strom Thurmond. He served from 1954 to 2003, nearly 50 years. This is way too long to be a US Senator. He was 100 years old when he finally stepped down. How many 100 year olds do you know of that can think coherently about their own lives, let alone the lives of the people of an entire state?

(And by the way, I think Thurmond was an excellent Senator, I just think 50 years is a little overboard.)

I would not support any Constitutional amendment to limit terms in Congress, but my policy is to always vote against the incumbent if there is a sane and rational opponent. The voters who feel that one should not stay in Congress for an extended period can easily fix it.
