Fluff, no.

It's a really interesting and compelling alternate world. Unlike chat, participants begin to emote through their avatars in a unique way, they feel pride, are self-conscious about how their avatar looks and is perceived, and treats others differently.

It's still early to see where this goes, but there is something about a social network with avatars that triggers something in the primordial brain at a level not experienced via text-only groups.

I see a time when each person will control different avatars, each representing a different aspect of their life, loves, careers, and interest/hobbies. Or.. will drag their avatar, morphed as needed, through professional forums and personal/hobby areas.

No, it is not a fluff.Just try to imagine all the good you have done goes for waste, you get nothing once you die. This is a thing which can't happen.According to rules of physics "Every action has a reaction" i just append it and say "either in this life or life hereafter".
All the relegions follow this.Either be christianity, jewism or Islam

Went to funeral yesterday, and do not believe that this extremely wonderful person is just now fluff. There is a soul. If you believe in God, you have to believe that there is an even better afterlife. If you have ever seen a person die while looking into their eyes, you know when the soul leaves the body and the soul must go somewhere.
