Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), stress, weight change, the wind blowing from the east on a Tuesday....

Everyone's body is different, so it can be difficult to give an answer that fits. Stress is a number-one answer, though, not to mention tricky to control! You're stressed, so your period is late, which makes you stress more, which makes the period even later... ;)

If you're consistantly late, you'll want to talk to a gynecologist. It could be a sign of a bigger problem.

Stress (as mentioned), excessive exercise, severely restricting your eating, some internal medical issues, if you are young and aren't regular yet, etc.

If you do not believe you could be pregnant then I wouldn't worry about 1 period being late/missed, but if it happens a 2nd time go see your doc and figure out what is causing it...just to make sure everything's okay.

Stress is a big one, anemia, anorexia, some birth control pills (usually the one w/progestin only), some medications, and sometimes it's just off for no apparent reason... Good luck!
