I'm 14, and my period dictates how I live my life. I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis (hereditary thyroid condition), and it effects my period by making it VERY heavy, and VERY painful. I'm tired of it running my life. I always try to plan events around that week, and then DURING that week, I'm out of commission. The thing is, I can't live my life like this forever. I'll have to try to get through it. During prom, I'll have my period. This sucks, and of course, it can't be rescheduled. :( Sometimes, my period changes on me. It will be at this time of the month, then it will be earlier, etc. Why does it do that? Does anyone else have these problems and how have you dealt with them? I know I SHOULD talk to my mom about this, but......y'know.....

I understand what you are going through and I can relate. There are many options for you. My first suggestion to you is that you should go see an OBGYN. They will help you with this problem and make sure nothing too serious is going on. If you are not against the idea of birth control pills then there are several birth control pills that can be effective in your situation. My favorite pill is the seasonale pill which allows you to only have 4 periods a year, hence the name seasonale. There are other contraceptives which can regulate and make your period lighter(YAZ for example or Loestrin24). Hope this helps.

P.S. If you choose to take birth control pills then you should know that if you take the active pills constantly then you will not have a period. This means not taking the sugar pills and after 3 weeks of the active pill you move on to the next pack of pills.

Okay hon there is help. Depending on whether it will affect your thyroiditis birthcontrol pills are also used to control a woman's period and sometimes even acne. Talk to your doctor to see if it's an option. The pills make your period lighter and shorter so do talk to your Mom and have her take you to see the doctor.

I agree with the birth control pill (bcp) suggestion. Again, check with the doctor to make sure it won't conflict with any thyroid treatments you may be on, but it should regulate your period as well as make it easier/lighter for you.

must be stress from thinking human beings will comprehend you're on your era .. or which you will possibly 'leak' and that they are going to comprehend or some thing.. that type of ingredient - and it makes you sense undesirable and so as that doesnt help.. purely attempt like in case you utilize tampons to function a liner so which you arent as paranoid or having a movie day to take a seat down at abode and watch a movie to loosen up and sleep slightly for the duration of the day while you're like me and miss some sleep at night worryin yah might sleep too long and 'leak' . .. tmi lol

You need to seriously talk to your mom about this immediately, call her at work, here use my cell phone...lol, no but seriously you do need to talk to her and go see a doctor immediately, the doctor can prescribe a pill where they won't be so painful and heavy, and then you don't have to miss prom.

so that means you have an under active thyroid. i would still recommend you telling your parent to take you to the doctor because they can fix it, but you might try Kelp, it contains iodine the basic substance of thyroid hormone 2,000 -3,000 mg daily in tablet form, it is essential.
