Get an agent, as no producer or director will consider an unsolicited script

Why not make it yourself? With pro-level equipment on the cheap, the only thing you need (other than money, of course), is a script (which you already have), some people, and a commitment to the production. I could write all day about how to make a film, but studentfilmmakers.com is a great place to go to because there are lots of forums on different topics and roles. Once you've shot your film, you can submit it to film festivals all over the country for a chance to win, or at least get feedback. And usually once you win a film festival, it will be very easy for you to get a distributor for your film. If you don't want to make a film, that's okay as well. Many film festivals allow you to submit screenplays, and there are some screenplay competitions out there as well. Winning one of these compeitions will almost guarantee your film being made, as usually the prize is a production deal, or at least money. The Bluecat screenplay competition is a fairly big competition, and the grand prize is $10,000. Unfortunately, the deadline is past; however, you can always enter for next year's competition. Check it out at www.bluecatscreenplay.com. Hope this helps!

The truth of the matter is that 99.99% of producers will throw it away. I takes lots of time, energy, and money to even get a producer to look at the script. If the first 5 pages don't hook the producer then he will trash it. The best thing to do is maybe sell the script to an Indie filmmaker. If you had dreams of getting your screenplay in a major studio...keep dreaming. if you sell your screenplay to an indie filmmaker you may get noticed by some "bigger" studios, and you just work your way up. Of course some people do get lucky.

good luck

You need to get an agent. Most agents won't take unsolicited scripts. I had a friend who sent about 40 agents pre-addressed, pre-stamped postcards. The postcards had a one or two line synopsis of what his movie was about, and had boxes they could check such as "No Thanks", or "I'm interested in reading the script, please forward me a copy". All the agent had to do was check a box and drop the card in the mail. Eight agents wanted to read his script, and one signed him. The agent then proceeded to get the script into the hands of some of Hollywood's biggest directors, so it definitely worked for my friend.
