is the Internet a force for good or bad?

with all the accessable porn, dodgy chat rooms & freedom to pass dangerous information i.e scammers, torrorists, suicide tecniques etc,
does this bad side outweigh the good, of free open communication, exposure of the peoples views of society & information etc

Interesting question. The internet is made as a source for good but the people abuse this. Sad I know but some programs block some of this out but still. Overall though I'd says there's more good cause luckily for me I haven't come across any of the bad stuff.

In itself, it's neutral. It is a tool and cannot be blamed for whatever people choose to use it for any more than a hammer can be blamed if someone uses it to break into a house ... pan someone's skull in. a hammer is a hammer - a tool.
