Why does art have to have the three qualities you've listed? If I paint the most "beautiful" (since beauty is an opinion) painting in the history of mankind and no one sees it, it is by your definition not art. Moreover, is audience response a true barometer? For example, the response of the audience is called "popularity" and to me, popularity is not an effective way to judge art. There really is no philosophical question here. To me, a sport can be considered art (maybe the Harlem Globetrotters are an example) and sports can most certainly be depicted in art and inspire art. How do we separate inspiration from the product? Is nature art, or only the photographer or painter's depiction? Art is something personal and highly opinionated. You're best to make up your own mind and leave it to others to the same. What inspires YOU?? That is art, in my opinion. And I'll never tell you what ought to be inspiring....

Yes i do consider sport, such as basketball, as an art because 1. great quality and quantity of work is put into the game. One who try perfect their performance or art of sport by improving in it just like one would try an improve in their visual art and dramatic arts

An art is a skill that cannot be systematized and mass-produced like a technology. By that definition, while a sport is not an art per se, the skills by the athletes who practice a sport can surely be considered arts.

Dude, i've got seen a guy pee on a crucifix and get in touch with it artwork. i've got seen a guy fill a room with dirt and get in touch with it artwork. To be undemanding, the international of present day artwork has tried so not straightforward to push and enhance the barriers of artwork so some distance, that each little thing is now artwork. i come across it unhappy that various might quite ask push the barriers of what artwork is quite than attempt their ultimate to make solid artwork that strikes human beings, instead of puzzling them. Basketball surely has a cultured, a communal adventure, a %., a circulation and exhibits a multitude of expression via each physique in touch. The artists intend it to be interesting. that is performed at an fairly severe point, elevates emotion and is properly appealing. in case you could call a flow crammed with urine artwork, then i think basketball might additionally qualify. although to be undemanding, i might quite not think of roughly it and purely take excitement in the 2nd whether that is watching the NCAA tourney or finding out a Picasso.

I am sorry to say but sports are not an art. The only type of sports that are considerd arts in the US are different types of dancing and horse back riding. Other then that you'd have to look far into it.

Not just those three points, but also the need of passion. In any sport, you have to be passionate. You have to love what you do. I think, depending on the viewpoint, it could be considered an art.
